AIC and OpenLearning partnership to deliver skills programs in Indonesia
The Australia-Indonesia Centre and OpenLearning have formed a partnership to deliver programs into Indonesia that will improve research and collaborative skills.

The AIC’s knowledge in forging strong research partnerships across countries and disciplines will form the basis of an online learning course using the OpenLearning platform and design knowledge.
The Centre and OpenLearning have a shared unity of purpose to provide greater access to knowledge and help build communities of practice.
“The AIC has been successful in bringing together researchers from different disciplines to address complex problems and find solutions,” said AIC Executive Director Eugene Sebastian.
“We are delighted to be working with an online educator who shares our passion, and will help bring our knowledge to more researchers. It’s an important next step for the Centre,” he said.
The courses will be created on the OpenLearning platform which has been built to make students feel empowered by their deeper learning and motivated to apply it in their communities.
“Partnering with the AIC aligns with OpenLearning’s purpose to increase access to higher quality education,” said Cherie Diaz, Managing Director for Australia at OpenLearning.
“OpenLearning was able to meet the needs of the AIC in creating a rich community of practice experience for what has traditionally been delivered face-to-face,” she said.
The Centre has just announced four new pilot projects under Partnership for Australia-Indonesia (PAIR) program, supported by the Australian Government to bring together teams of scientists from Australia and Indonesia to provide ideas on how to tackle challenges facing people and industry in the province of South Sulawesi.
The course content will provide practical examples and learnings of how to bring international teams and disciplines together. The initial course will be built over the next 6 months with the support of the OpenLearning’s team of learning designers and implement current best practices in online education.
